TORO Y MOI Electronica, synth, new wave. Sounds like Neon Indian. Smells like Williamsburg. Something I can move to. And I like Chaz, for the genre-hopping youthful tunes in Chasers of This. Some attempts at innovation however can go awry, as evidenced in few of the songs in this album. This South Carolina based project nonetheless is definitely making waves here in New York - Toro Y Moi received good reviews from the recent performance at Cameo gallery, Brooklyn. So do yourself a favor and listen to “You Hid” because it just made it to my list of favorite singles.
